Dr. Bach-Kim Nguyen
Dr. Nguyen was born in Vietnam. She grew up during the Vietnam War in a family of ten children. After the communist government took away her dream of becoming a medical doctor, she escaped from Vietnam, alone, seeking freedom and a medical career. She was rescued by the U.S. Navy, and as a result, she was allowed to settle in the United States as a refugee. She spent the next thirteen years in the U.S. learning English and getting a first class education.
She completed liberal art studies at City College of San Francisco, finished a Bachelor Degree in Biochemistry from University of California at Davis, and achieved a Bachelor Degree in Visual Science and a Doctor of Optometry Degree, both from the University of California at Berkeley. After practicing for many different commercial and private optometry and ophthalmology practices, Dr. Nguyen purchased Walnut Creek Optometry Group in 1997 and Dr. Lyn Owens's practice in 2002 and merged the two together. In 2003 Dr. Nguyen obtained a 25 year old practice in Vallejo from Dr. Bernard Deschuytter and invited Dr. Wong and Dr. Jones to work with her in the Vallejo Optometry Group practice. |
Dr. Nguyen practices the full scope of optometry and has experience in comprehensive eye examinations, all advanced contact lens fittings, eye disease treatment, visual efficiency and perceptual examinations, vision therapy, and co-manages for laser vision correction (LASIK, PRK), cataract surgery, and glaucoma.

Dr. Celesti Hao
Dr. Hao was born and raised in the East Bay Area. She attended University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in PsychoBiology. During her time at UCLA, she volunteered at multiple private practices, as well as hospital settings, such as the Jules Stein Eye Institute. After shadowing several ophthalmologists and optometrists from different specialties, she realized her passion for vision care and was inspired to pursue a career in optometry.
She went on to graduate from UC Berkeley School of Optometry, where she gained extensive training in medical and primary care optometry from external rotations, such as the San Francisco Veterans Affair Hospital, Monterey Veterans Affair Hospital, Eastmont Wellness Center in Oakland, and Marin Community Clinic in San Rafael. Her time at these rigorous clinical rotations gave her clinical experience in myopia control, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Hao is certified to diagnose, treat, and manage glaucoma and is certified in the latest contact lens technology for myopia control. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. When not seeing patients, she enjoys spending time with her family/pets and doing Ashtanga yoga. |
